RENÉ LALIQUE
'PAONS' LAMP, c. 1910
Lamp in molded and pressed white glass with a grey patina, set in a patinated bronze mount.
The treatment of the glass subtly blurs the perception of the material, lending it an almost metallic appearance and creating a refined dialogue between glass and bronze.
The shade is decorated with relief-carved peacocks displaying their tails, interwoven with floral motifs. The quadrangular shaft depicts four perched peacocks, their plumage extending down to the base.
Model created in 1910, not reproduced after 1947.
