This is a true technical and artistic feat, entirely handcrafted by the master ironworker decorator Gilbert Poillerat c. 1948. This chandelier embodies the refined and theatrical spirit of his work.
The light arms are designed like torch holders wrapped in hammered ropes, a signature characteristic of the artist. The central crown, adorned with stylized leaves, interacts with the floral bouquet at the top, giving the whole piece a theatrical and poetic dimension.
Gilbert Poillerat, trained at the École Boulle and under the guidance of the renowned Edgar Brandt, was a pioneer of decorative ironwork and managed to create here a work where classical rigor and fairy-tale imagination unite.
His career, marked by a stylistic evolution from Art Deco furniture to a more baroque style, then neoclassical after the war, profoundly influenced the landscape of French decorative arts
