EMILE LENOBLE

TOBACCO POT, c. 1930
Brown glazed stoneware tobacco jar with geometric decoration in the form of a stylised Greek frieze. The rosewood cover, inset with an agate cabochon, was designed by Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann (1879–1933).
H 9 - H 13 cm. (with lid)
Diam 17 cm.

H 3 1/2 - H 5 1/8 in. (with lid)
Diam 6 3/4 in.
Signed beneath the recessed base with the artist’s monogram and inscribed: “À mon vieil ami Boutreux.” Labels beneath the lid referring to Ruhlmann and Lenoble.
The jar was dedicated to the painter Félix Boutreux, a close friend of the artist.
