"When Ruhlmann draws inspiration from the traditional rustic straw-seated chair, he does so with the sharp eye of an observer who can decipher, beyond the apparent modesty of 18th and 19th-century country chairs, the subtleties that sometimes lend them a distinguished air (...). When Ruhlmann designs Rendez-vous des pêcheurs de truites, it is likely that he is focused on the potential arrangement of his Norman house located in Lyons-la-Forêt. He then recognizes the relevance of adopting a rustic approach suited to the purpose of the place. The relatively understated rusticity of the interior he envisions reveals a modern intent in the distribution of spaces, organized according to a concept that remains contemporary."
