"Appointed in 1920 as head of the electroplating department at Christofle, then artistic director of the firm from 1922 to 1946, Luc Lanel was also a ceramist. From 1922 to 1931, he continued the work on copper enhanced with colors, silvering, and gilding through chemical reactions and electrolysis, techniques originally developed by Auguste Delaherche for Christofle between 1916 and 1920. These 'art bronzes,' also called 'dinanderie,' were exhibited at the 1925 Paris Exposition Universelle. Their fresh colors and geometric lines, characteristic of Art Deco, met with great success."
