RENÉ LALIQUE
'ALGER 1' CHANDELIER, c. 1930
Model created on 2 May 1930, made of white moulded-pressed glass, composed of several separately assembled elements, and fitted with a central stem mount in nickel-plated metal.
It appears in René Lalique’s 1932 catalogue as well as in the 1937 price list, and was not reissued after 1947.
The glass panels are decorated with a recessed design—whose relief is revealed by transparency when viewed from the reverse—depicting small birds, evoking passerines, perched among leafy branches dotted with berries, forming a Mediterranean-inspired iconography in keeping with the model’s name, Alger.
