Albert BINQUET ((1879 - Après 1959))

Pair of hand mirrors , circa 1921

Pair of hand mirrors in patinated bronze representing a stylized mask.

H 39,5 - L 24 cm (H 15.6 - W 9.4 in)

История

Inspired by Mycenaean art, Albert Binquet designed this model of mirror in 1921 for Michel Bufet & Bureau, a company called M.A.M (Meubles Artistiques Modernes).

"(...) Finally Dufet and Bureau had a new and ingenious idea. A sort of Mycenaean mask finishes their gilded wooden frame. And I assure you that when two fingers are passed in the empty orbits of this mask, the object does not risk to fall. Thus hand mirrors are not as frivolous as one might think at first" in "Miroirs à main" by Léon Deshairs, Art et Décoration, October 1921, pp. 125-128.

The same model can be seen in the Jacques Doucet collection.

Экспозиции

Model exhibited at the 12th Salon des Artistes Décorateurs, 1921.
