VASE, c. 1922
Ovoid glazed earthenware vase with a flared neck, decorated with elongated female figures painted against a beige ground with foliage motifs, their garments scattered with green glazed dots. The figures carry baskets of stylized flowers, from which garlands unfold into scrolling vegetal motifs, placing the vase firmly within René Buthaud’s distinctive artistic vocabulary.
