Created around 1930, the Patouillard table belongs to the final years of Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann’s career. Its design reflects the increasing restraint of his later furniture: luxury remains essential, but is expressed less through ornament than through proportion, the treatment of the veneer and the precision of its metal fittings.
Conceived as a functional game table, the model combines a reversible top with four drawers, each incorporating an ashtray. The tapered, gently curved legs terminating in silvered-bronze sabots nevertheless retain the distinctive elegance of line associated with Ruhlmann. The model is recorded under no. 1265 in the Ruhlmann reference catalogue held by the Musée des Années 30.
