Its design exemplifies Ruhlmann’s distinctive balance between classical elegance and modern stylisation. The openwork back, conceived as a lyre composed of slender radiating slats, gives the chair remarkable visual lightness, while the gently saber-shaped legs extend its lines with great fluidity. The contrasting sabots terminating the front legs provide one of the subtle material accents characteristic of Ruhlmann’s vocabulary.
Preserved here as a rare homogeneous set of eight, the Zucca chairs fully reveal the rhythmic and graphic coherence Ruhlmann brought to dining-room furniture.
