JEAN-MICHEL FRANK

SET OF THREE CHAIRS, c. 1925-1930
A set of three oak chairs, each with a slightly inclined square backrest and sabre-shaped rear legs. The generously upholstered seats and backrests soften the restrained geometry of the frames. Their clean lines and fine materials embody Jean-Michel Frank’s minimalist aesthetic.
H 83 - W 49 - D 47 cm.
H 32 5/8 - W 19 1/4 - D 18 1/2 in.
Two chairs bear the clearly legible stamp “CHANAUX & Co / J.M. FRANK” and the number “13645” beneath the seat rail; on the third, both the stamp and the number are barely legible.
