JULES LELEU
SOFA, c. 1940
Two-seat barrel-back sofa resting on a stained sycamore base with a gracefully curved apron. The semi-circular seat is framed by high, sweeping arms that elegantly envelop the silhouette of the piece. Fully reupholstered in Pierre Frey brown mohair, it is enhanced by a seat upholstered with an 18th-century Aubusson verdure tapestry, whose rich decorative foliage provides a subtle counterpoint to the restraint and purity of its lines.
H 79 cm - W 180 cm.
H 31 1/8 - W 70 7/8 in.
H 31 1/8 - W 70 7/8 in.
Numbered “P27689” on the inside of one of the bases.
