ANDRÉ ARBUS

SIDE TABLE, c. 1937
Tripod occasional table in sycamore, resting on three gently curved tapering legs joined by a solid triangular stretcher veneered in sycamore. The circular top retains its original bevelled mirror, framed by a sycamore moulding punctuated with three oblong ivory mounts.
Reflecting André Arbus's training as a cabinetmaker, this piece exemplifies his refined reinterpretation of French classical furniture, combining purity of line with the use of precious materials such as ivory.
H 60 - Diam. 40 cm.
H 23 5/8 - Diam. 15 3/4 in.
Stamped 'André Arbus' on the back of the belt.
