LINE VAUTRIN
'ROMAIN' MIRROR, c. 1950
Convex mirror with a double circular Talosel frame in an ivory finish. At its centre, a convex mirror is surrounded by a Talosel frieze composed of small squares, each hand-painted with a star motif.
A second Talosel band, carved with a chevron pattern, gives rise to a first radiating ring of rectangular mirror fragments with bluish and gilt reflections. This is followed by a second radiating ring in finely striated ivory Talosel. Each ray is crowned with an inset square mirror, also hand-painted with a star motif, lending the composition a vibrant brilliance and exceptional decorative richness.
Original mirror and original backing moiré.
