THE SALON ART + DESIGN NEW YORK 2025: BOOTH A8

6 - 10 Novembre 2025
For the 2025 edition of The Salon Art + Design, Galerie Marcilhac celebrates the centenary of the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes — the landmark 1925 Paris fair that gave “Art Deco” its name — with a dazzling selection that pays tribute to the movement in letters of gold.

Under the theme Noir et Or, this presentation explores the dialogue between shadow and light, restraint and radiance — an allegory for Art Deco’s enduring fascination with contrast and craftsmanship. Each piece embodies the golden age of French decorative arts, when artistic invention and luxury materials converged in perfect harmony.
At the heart of the installation is a remarkable ensemble by André Arbus and Vadim Androusov, a collaboration that unites architectural rigor and poetic ornament. The furniture’s deep black, achieved through a hand-rubbed varnish, serves as a nocturnal backdrop for Androusov’s gilded bronze reliefs. Their collaboration will also be represented by a remarkable low table, its verre églomisé top adorned with a laurel wreath and a golden arrow — a piece that perfectly embodies the refinement and symbolism of 1930s Paris.

Nearby, a Jules Leleu table with gilt-bronze mounts and a black opaline top embodies the timeless elegance of his style — modern yet imbued with classical grace. A console by Eugène Printz, with its sponge-textured oxidized gilt-metal base, demonstrates his mastery of surface and material nuance, while a gleaming selection of Line Vautrin mirrors introduces a touch of poetic fantasy through her signature golden alchemy.
Overhead, an extraordinary Gilbert Poillerat chandelier in gilded wrought iron crowns the ensemble, its breathtaking finesse exemplifying the sculptural artistry that made him one of the most sought-after ironworkers of his generation. Completing this luminous constellation, a pair of armchairs by Jean-Michel Frank, works by Max Ingrand, and a painting by Paul Jouve enrich the narrative, evoking the multifaceted creativity of the interwar years.

A century after 1925, Galerie Marcilhac invites visitors to rediscover the brilliance of Art Deco — an era where gold was not merely a color, but a language of light, translating modernity into splendor.
