  • Galerie Marcilhac thriving into Museums

Exceptional Loans for the Centenary of Art Deco

In the world of decorative arts, certain works transcend time without ever losing their brilliance. They become witnesses, landmarks, objects of fascination. Their value is forged through their history, their rarity, but also through the hands that shaped them, restored them, and passed them on.

For decades, Galerie Marcilhac has watched over these exceptional pieces, sharing their stories with those who, like us, are captivated by a flamboyant era: that of Art Deco.

Today, these works leave the walls of our gallery for a moment to join those of major institutions. We have the great honor of lending several significant pieces to French museums on the occasion of the Art Deco centenary, celebrated throughout 2025–2026.

For the exhibition « 1925-2025 : Cent ans d’Art Déco » held in the nave of the museum, three pieces from Galerie Marcilhac will enter the temple of French decorative arts: Pierre Chareau’s famous Religieuse (1925), a low table from the Yves Saint Laurent / Pierre Bergé collection, and an armchair by Jean-Michel Frank will enrich this exceptional journey.

  • Musée Zadkine – Paris

    November 14, 2025 – February 22, 2026

With its exhibition « Zadkine – Art Déco », the Musée Zadkine celebrates the centenary of Art Deco in the sculptor’s former home and studio. Through more than 90 works – sculptures, objects, and furniture – the exhibition highlights, for the first time, the ties Ossip Zadkine forged with the decorative arts of the 1920s–1930s, and his dialogue with creators such as Eileen Gray, Marc du Plantier, and André Groult.
On this occasion, we are lending an exceptional lacquer armchair crafted by the Japanese lacquer master Seizo Sugawara during his collaboration with Eileen Gray. A meeting of two geniuses, between tradition and modernity.

  • Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux – Bordeaux

    June 26 – November 29, 2026

With the exhibition « Jean Dupas & Co. Le grand Art Déco », the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux will spotlight the prolific work of Jean Dupas (1882–1964), an emblematic figure of Art Deco, along with the circle of artists who surrounded him—from his beginnings in Bordeaux to the transatlantic grandeur of the 1930s.
On this occasion, we are lending two paintings by the artist, as well as the preparatory design for the decorative scheme entitled L’Île d’Amour by Alfred-Auguste Janniot, once intended to adorn an exceptional restaurant in Lyon.

  • These collaborations reflect our commitment to promoting Art Deco, to rekindling the memory of a golden age of French design, and to building bridges between past and present. We are proud and delighted to contribute to these exhibitions, and we hope they will pave the way for new museum adventures, both in France and beyond its borders.
