LINE VAUTRIN
'SEQUINS' MIRROR, c. 1960
Brown Talosel mirror with a double frame. The first circular frame is covered with Lumaline, a metallic material developed by Line Vautrin, which she delicately applied over Talosel—a synthetic resin that she sculpted and modelled while warm—to create subtle effects of light and depth.
The second circular frame is decorated, along its inner edge, with a network of motifs carved directly into the material, evoking a honeycomb structure. Its smooth surface reveals, through transparency, a brown tortoiseshell-effect Talosel, one of the most emblematic features of Line Vautrin's work. This second frame also supports a network of sequins secured by fine metal pins. The sequins alternate between orange, silver and gilt tones, creating delicate shimmering reflections.
