EDGAR BRANDT

'LA FORET' FIRESCREEN, c. 1925
Patinated wrought-iron firescreen, raised on scrolling feet and supporting a framed structure with an elegantly shaped accolade-form crest, highlighted by an ornamental frieze.
At its centre, an exceptional openwork wrought-iron composition depicts a stag, roe deer and wild boars captured in full stride. The animals move through an intricate arrangement of stylised foliage and scrolling motifs, creating a composition of remarkable vitality. Certain details retain traces of gilding, enhancing the richness of the decoration and highlighting the refined craftsmanship of the ironwork.
The reverse is fitted with a protective wire mesh designed to shield effectively against sparks and embers from the fire.
H 92 - W 95 - D 31.5 cm.
H 36 1/4 - W 37 3/8 - D 12 3/8 in.
Branded 'E.BRANDT'.
